The 1967 Chevelle was quite popular this year with total Chevelle production of 369,133 cars. Although the inline six cylinder version of the 67 Chevelle was not as popular as it's V8 brother, Chevrolet still managed to have 85,700 six cylinder Chevelles ordered in 1967. The mass majority of the cars though were ordered through Chevy with one of the several popular V8 engines.

1967 Chevelle Models

New in 1967 were only minor changes to the Chevy Chevelle over the previous year. The most noticeable of these changes were extensions of the front fenders and the grill.

Just like the previous year the 1967 Chevelle was available in three basic models. They were the Chevelle 300 which also had a Deluxe option, the Chevelle Malibu, and the flashy Chevelle Super Sport. Each model was available in several different configurations like two and four doors, convertible, and wagon models. The only exception to this was the Super Sport it was only offered in a two door hardtop or a two door convertible version.

1967 Chevelle Engines

The 67 Chevelle had five engine sizes available with eight different horsepower ratings. The base engine was an inline six cylinder that was 230 cubic inches and produced a low 140 horsepower. This engine was available in the 300 and Malibu, but not in the Super Sport. If you wanted to upgrade from there but yet still keep the economical six cylinder motor, you could purchase a slightly larger 250 cubic inch motor that produced about 15 horsepower more.

Then for those people who wanted even more power Chevrolet offered several variations of the small block Chevy. You could order either a 283cubic inch engine or two versions of the 327. With the best performing version being rated at 325 horsepower.

None of the above engines were offered in the 67 Chevelle Super Sport though. When you purchased a Super Sport you only had the option of three different horsepower versions of the 396 big block Chevy. You could purchase a base model that produced 325 horsepower just like the 327 small block, or there was a 360 horsepower, and the ultimate 375 horsepower version.

1967 Chevelle Super Sport

1967 was a wonderful year for the Super Sport Chevelle in both hardtop and convertible. If you were looking to buy a wild muscle car in 1967 then chances are you were at least considering a Chevelle SS 396. Chevrolet produced approximately 63,000 of these 396 engined monsters that were bought by eager consumers who had dreams of tearing up both the street and the drag strip!
